How to spend your free time in Cefalu and Sicily
Cefalu is located right in
the
middle of the northern coast of Sicily. It is, therefore, an ideal
departure point for those who, as well as attending an Italian course,
would like to discover and explore the wonderful artistic and natural
beauties of Sicily. Excursions to the
most famous and attractive
sites in Sicily eg. Etna, Taormina, Agrigento, Palermo, etc, can be
arranged in collaboration with a local travel agency Kefa Reisen.
The school organises a range of excursions that take you off the beaten
track, allow you to discover
the soul of Sicily and give
you a real
understanding of our people and country.

Cefalu:
one of the
teachers of our Italian language school will take you around, explain
the history of the town, its
traditions and monuments and show you its characteristic hidden corners.

local people. An
afternoon together in town to
meet an old fisherman who will tell us about local fishing and
show us how to make fishing nets and pots for lobsters or other fish;
visit a ceramics workshop to see how the ceramics are made;
visit the workshop of a weaver who will show you how she works
on her loom.

Watch an Italian video
or film once a week at school.

and bake
bread in the country as a guest of a Sicilian family.

with lunch in a mountain
refuge and a walk through an ancient oak wood from where you can enjoy
breathtaking views: from the smoking top of mount Etna to the Aeolian
islands on the far horizon.

sample Sicilian

boat trip
with a local fisherman
along the beautiful coastline of northern Sicily discovering
bays, small beaches and coves.

fishing boat with dinner on board based on...fish (the one you have
cought! ).

trip
on a sailboat to the Aeolian
islands. A full day excursion to discover the less visited
and wild islands of well reknown Italian archipelago: Alicudi and
Filicudi (from
May to October only).

The
sporting activities
are organised in collaboration with the sport association Kalura Sport Cefalu.
You can hire a bike but also take part in bike tours along the coastal
routes of Sicily, or across the protected area of the Parco
Naturale
delle
Madonie.
Solitary roads and tracks immersed in a wild landscape, old sleepy
villages on the top of the mountains and ...many others. And as a
reward for the effort the most dramatic and breathtaking scenery: the
smoking top of
Mount Etna, the mountainous horizon, the deep blue of the sea and the
outlying Aeolian Islands.
Tours for beginners are also available.
